What is the difference between Religion and Spirituality?
In short: Religion is the stories and encounters that other people had with God. Spirituality is YOUR story and encounter with God.
Let us look at the Christian faith. Christians reads the Bible. In the Bible there are countless stories of people that tell us what happened between them and God.
From Adam to Jesus.
Adam talked to God in the Garden of Eden.
Noah - God told him how to build the Arc.
Others such as Moses, Daniel, Samuel, Cain, Saul, Eve and Sarah.
God speaks to others through Angels: Abraham, Lot, Elisha and Elijah.
Do you see that the Bible is full of stories of how other people interact with God?
Now what is your storie?
How do you interact with God?
Does God talk to you?
What is God telling you?
This is spirituality!!
Be you. Live your life. Tell your story.
When you outgrow religion and find yourself in spirituality, you won’t need a Bible or a Bhagavad Gita, or any other scriptures to tell you what right or wrong is in the eyes of God. You will know.
I hope that this will make you think of where you are in your religious/ spiritual life.
